Game Gene – New Japanese Video Game Magazine
There’s a new Video Game Mook on the streets in Japan. Game Gene. From the people who bought you “???”, comes a new game magazine and it’s very good!
There’s only one issue so far (it looks like it’s quarterly as this is the “Summer” issue), but it looks like they’re going to cover retro games aswell as more recent games and arcade games.
The cover feature is an extended article on the RAY shoot-em-up series including a long interview with many of the developers series.
The magazine also covers Doujin games (home made, indie games) with a great article and interview with the developer (Naut Mark) of shoot-em-up Battle Traverse.
There’s an interesting interview with an arcade owner Kinji Amano, who has been running an “Amano Game Museum” in Nishi City, Aichi Prefecture, for the past 30 years.
Jaleco music rhythmn games, Eve Burst Error, a Brad Allen Fuller interview, a JRPG Burai article and more.
The magazine is available from Amazon Japan and is obviously in Japanese so difficult to read if your 漢字 (Kanji) isn’t up to much, but there are some great screenshots and photos that might make it something to consider.
